Credibility on carbs
If you think that all diets are just a crap shoot, here’s a user-friendly presentation on an extremely comprehensive comparison of diet approaches that provides some eye-opening results. The presentation is by Christopher Gardner, director of nutrition studies at the Stanford Prevention Research Center.
Bottom line: Keep your carbs low (make your grains whole, if you eat grains, and give precedence to fiber-rich veggies), your protein moderately high, and don’t worry too much about fats as long as they’re “healthy” fats.
…As always, though, an effective functional fitness program needs to go hand-in-hand with your diet to make it work.
